Zeppelins, you had me at hello.

I never thought I would love a restaurant in a strip mall.  Jeff and I went to Zeppelins for dinner on a Saturday night at the suggestion of a friend who's son works in the kitchen.  We were greeted upon our arrival by a cheerful hostess who took our name so we could wait at the bar for a table.  The sexy low lighting and dark wood tones set a wonderful date night atmosphere.  I ordered a Blonde Fatale for me and Jeff got an Imperial Stout, both from Peace Tree.  It was great to get such fine beers on tap!

We were seated at our table in about 15 minutes.   Our server was knowledgeable, helpful and answered all of our menu questions.  Jeff ordered the Maytag Filet (rare) a Char-broiled hand cut filet topped with mushroom in a Maytag blue cheese demiglace and crispy onion strips. Served with fresh vegetables and roasted garlic parmesan potatoes.  I ordered the Teriyaki Grilled Cashew Chicken Salad which is Teriyaki glazed chicken breast over a blend of lettuce, tossed with roasted cashews, cucumber, red onions, roasted red bell peppers, crispy low mien noodles, sesame seeds and oriental vinaigrette.  We were both impressed by the quality of the food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, on tap beer list and menu selection.  We liked it so much that we found ourselves there a week later.

The Next time we were there, we just ate at the bar.  Jeff had the Cuban Sandwich, a butter toasted pretzel bread with shredded pork, sliced ham, pickles, bell pepper, red onion, smoked gouda cheese, fresh herbs and house sauce.  I had one of the best sandwiches I have ever had, the Butterball Turkey. It is thin sliced turkey breast with sliced apples, bacon, cheddar, and apple butter on butter toasted ciabatta bread.  And even though I am on a "no deep fried foods" self imposed moratorium, I had the Parmesan Fries.  Crispy fries tossed with parmesan cheese, basil and roasted garlic oil. Smoked onion ranch sauce served on the side. Hell's Yeah!!  The fries were to die for, and I am not bullshitting one bit.  The only thing I would suggest is more good beer on tap.  The cretins who are ordering Bud, Miller or Coors will buy it the the bottle if on tap is not available thus freeing up taps for good craft beer.

For the great service, food, atmosphere and beer I am awarding Zeppelin's
